Ike Debris

Driving over debris in Chambers County, Texas has become a part of the daily routine for the Sheriff and his Chief Deputy, but digging through the scattered remains of people's homes is overwhelming.
Roughly 80 square miles of debris contains mattresses, boats, stuffed animals and even games.
while the accumulation of wood and grass carries on and on, Sheriff's Deputies say you can't see all of the debris unless you fly over it.
The vast amount of wreckage and the task of trying to find victims has taken a toll emotionally on many of the searchers.
Homes were washed away in Oak Island and whole neighborhoods are now gone.
So far, only one body has been found in Chambers County.
