Chicago recorded its rainiest day ever on Saturday (9/13) and now some portions of the city are paying the price for that record.
Officials on Sunday morning (9/14) say at least 400 homes have been evacuated due to flooding along the north branch of the Chicago River. Police blocked off streets and some sandbags were put down to keep the water at bay.
A shelter has been set up for residents who were forced out of their homes.
The National Weather Service says six-point-six-four inches of rain fell in Chicago on Saturday. The forecast calls for more rain throughout Sunday as the remnants of Hurricane Ike move across Illinois.
