Areas around Dauphin Island flooded by Ike

Parts of the Alabama coast are under a foot of water as Hurricane Ike churns through the Gulf of Mexico toward Texas.

Roads were flooded Friday on the western end of Dauphin Island,
and foamy sea water rushed under homes built on stilts.

Water also is high in the beach towns of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

Some areas are cut off by floodwaters that are covering roads,
but officials haven't ordered any evacuations.

No damage or injuries have been reported, but winds are gusting up to 40 mph.
