NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) - Tropical Storm Hanna is roaring along the edge of the Bahamas in advance of possibly hitting the Carolinas as a hurricane by Saturday.
The National Hurricane Center says the sprawling storm's bands of outer winds is likely to hit the Southeast coast far sooner. Tropical storm force winds are extending outward as far as 315 miles from the center.
Maximum winds have slipped slightly to 65 miles-an-hour. But forecasters say the storm could become a hurricane before hitting the United States.
Hanna is blamed in 61 deaths in Haiti and two in Puerto Rico.
Meanwhile, a far more powerful storm is heading toward the Caribbean in Hurricane Ike. Its maximum winds are about 140 miles-an-hour. It could hit the Bahamas by Monday.
Farther out into the Atlantic is Tropical Storm Josephine.
