.LONG TERM (THURSDAY THROUGH NEXT MONDAY)...
THE LARGE SCALE PATTERN ACROSS THE CONUS THIS WEEK WILL FEATURE MEAN
TROUGHS ALONG THE WEST COAST AND OVER THE NORTHEAST...AND THE
PATTERN IS FORECAST TO BEGIN TO AMPLIFY SIGNIFICANTLY TOWARD THE END
OF THE WEEK. BY THE WEEKEND...WEAK RIDGING OVER THE SOUTHEAST WILL
BEGIN TO BREAK DOWN...AS A STRONG SHORT WAVE DROPS INTO THE MEAN
TROF OVER THE EASTERN U.S. AMPLE LOW LEVEL MOISTURE WILL PERSIST
ACROSS THE TRI-STATE REGION FOR SCATTERED AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS
DRIVEN PRIMARILY BY STRONG HEATING AND THE SEABREEZE. OVER THE
WEEKEND...THE AMPLIFYING TROUGH WILL PROVIDE ENOUGH SUPPORT TO PUSH
A WEAKENING COLD FRONT INTO THE SOUTHEAST...WHICH COULD PROVIDE A
FOCUS FOR INCREASED SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY BY THE FIRST OF
NEXT WEEK. WILL GO WITH A BLEND OF THE GFS AND EURO...AND SHOW POPS
LOWERING TO NEAR NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR...WITH TEMPERATURES
REMAINING GENERALLY A LITTLE ABOVE NORMAL.
