National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds in Dothan
SARCOA Older Americans Day Celebration
SARCOA’s annual Older Americans Day celebration will be held May 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds in Dothan. Tickets for the event are free, but must be ordered by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 6. Attendees must be 60 years or older to qualify for the free lunch and prizes.
Older Americans Day features entertainment, food, prizes and sponsor booths. This year’s theme is “Flower Power.” Talent show participants must pre-register. Event t-shirts are available for purchase.

2015 Gulf Coast Salute
Tyndall Air Force Base
On behalf of the more than 5,000 Airmen of Team Tyndall, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 2015 Gulf Coast Salute open house and air show on April 11 and 12. The base gates will open at 9:00 am each day; admission and parking are both absolutely free.
Tyndall is the “Home of Air Dominance,” and after watching the air show, you will know exactly how and why we got our name. For this year’s show we’ve pulled out all the stops and will feature performances by the Thunderbirds, the F-22 demonstration team, the Golden Knights and many more.
Our goal for the Gulf Coast Salute is that you and your families leave with an experience of a lifetime and with a better understanding of Tyndall, our mission and the Airmen who make it happen every day.
We look forward to showing you, and all our community partners, how much we appreciate your friendship and support. Without you, we could not accomplish our mission to “train and project unrivaled combat air power.”

5th Annual Marvel of Flight
DeFuniak Springs Municipal Airport on Hwy 90 West
The City of DeFuniak Springs is proud to announce and celebrate our fifth annual fly-in/aviation festival, “Marvel of Flight”. Event times are Friday, April 10th from 5 pm to 10 pm and on Saturday, April 11 from 9 am to 4 pm at DeFuniak Springs Municipal Airport on Hwy 90 West. Come experience history at the DeFuniak Springs Airport. The theme of the 2015 Marvel of Flight is “Rising Above Adversity”, honoring the Tuskegee Airmen of WWII. The RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit offers spectators a unique insight into the lives of the Tuskegee Airmen and also features a fully restored P-51 Mustang static display. In addition, a featured attraction will be the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation Wiregrass Chapter with their Huey and Cobra Helicopters.

We are particularly proud to have the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit at this year’s event to further educate people not only about aviation but also about a part of our country’s history and the extraordinary contributions made by the Tuskegee Airmen,” said Sara Bowers, City Manager.
Marvel of Flight was created as the 2010/2011 class project of Leadership Walton, a program of the Walton Area Chamber. The class was challenged with bringing alternate forms of tourism throughout the county, while promoting economic development.
Marvel of Flight events attracts 5,000-7,000 spectators and will showcase a multitude of aircraft displays, flight demonstrations, career exploration exhibits, pilot workshops, concerts, free kids activities, food/aviation/art/crafts vendors, and lots of thrills for adults and children of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy. “The City of DeFuniak Springs is delighted to host the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit as it makes its way across the United States touring air shows and other major public venues,” said Event Coordinator Ryan Adams. “This is an outstanding way to kick-off Marvel of Flight’s 5th year at DeFuniak Springs Municipal Airport.”
The array of events include: aircraft judging, helicopter rides in a Vietnam Era Huey and Cobra, bi-plane rides, the RE/MAX Balloon team program by RE/MAX Agency One - Crestview, pilot seminars, live entertainment, an aviation themed interactive exhibit and displays by NASA Kennedy Space Center, arts & crafts, free kids activities, car show, model rockets, RC planes, great food and much more! This is an alcohol-free day of “hometown” fun for the entire family.
Friday afternoon the campgrounds open at 5 pm for pilots. Early evening events include the Healthmark Regional Medical Center 5k Walk/Run as well as food/live entertainment. In addition, Monarch Aviation is hosting an opportunity for participants to meet Sonny Everett, an American aviator, author and broadcaster as well as a model rocket build and launch program for kids, pilots’ dinner and a movie.
