Azalea Dogwood Trail
7-mile trail through Dothan Garden District
Spring has arrived bringing warm temperatures and beautiful flower blooms. With these delights, the Azalea Dogwood Committee anxiously begins preparation for the 51th Azalea Dogwood Trail scheduled Sunday, March 29th. This annual pilgrimage through some of Dothan’s heaviest azalea and dogwood-populated areas is held each year on the Sunday when the blooms are at their peak.
The 2015 Azalea Dogwood Queen, Princess and Maid of Honor, will join Dothan’s Mayor Mike Schmitz in the ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 1:50 p.m. on the corner of Woodland and Main Street. The Trail draws hundreds of visitors from across the Southeast to view the beauty of spring in Dothan.
Following the ribbon cutting, the Queen and her court will lead the entourage of cars atop their Corvettes provided by the Circle City Corvette Club. Lovely young ladies dressed in antebellum gowns will grace the lawns of the seven-mile winding trail. The Queen and her court will greet visitors at the trail’s end point – the home of Brent and Elizabeth Cook located at 115 Girard Avenue. Anyone is welcome to ride the trail after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29th, but please do not turn into the driveway of the Cook’s home at 115 Girard Avenue after 4:20 p.m.
The Azalea Dogwood Festival is sponsored annually by the City of Dothan and the National Peanut Festival.

The Matrix Jail And Bail
Triangle Chevrolet Buick in DeFuniak Springs
Please help us, help our Community, by joining us for the 3rd Annual Jail and Bail fundraiser on April 24th, 2015 from 9AM to 4PM at Triangle Chevrolet Buick in DeFuniak Springs. Proceeds to be used for our community.
One of the many missions of the City of DeFuniak Springs and local law enforcement agencies is to partner with those in our community whose efforts make DeFuniak Springs and Walton County a safer, stronger, and healthier community.
The Matrix Community Outreach Center has been providing the community with a number of services that implements a “Hand Up not a Hand Out” mentality since 2011. The Matrix continues to strive to expand its programs and offerings to this community to help those less fortunate and in crisis.
In order for the Matrix to meet their mission and provide for those in need in our community, they rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses for support. Without the assistance of community-minded individuals just like you, they would not be able to serve the men, women, and children in need in our community.
On April 24th, 2015, members from the City of DeFuniak Springs, DeFuniak Springs Police, Walton County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Department of Corrections and other local law enforcement agencies will partner with The Matrix Community Outreach Center to host their 3rd Annual Jail and Bail fundraising drive to be held at Triangle Chevrolet Buick, 850 U.S. Highway 331 S. in DeFuniak Springs. Their goal again this year is to raise $15,000.00. We encourage you to participate by having someone mock arrested for charges such as “aging too well,” “impersonating a golfer,” or the most committed violation of “wearing unfashionable clothing.” There are so many other phony charges that can be made for the mock arrest of your boss, co-worker, family member, friend or even volunteer yourself to be a jail bird. Even if you can’t participate, donations are always accepted and appreciated! Your generosity during this fun time will make a difference in our community and allow them to continue this much needed program.
For further information on how you can donate or volunteer, please contact:
