21st Tee Off for Kids Golf Tournament

Highland Oaks Golf Course - Dothan
Cost? = $125/player; 500/team; sponsorships available

21st Annual Tee Off for Kids golf tournement will be held Thursday, September 17th at Highland Oaks in Dothan. Registration will begin at 10:00, lunch served at 11:00, and tee time is noon. Tournament is a 4 person scramble format.

Helicopter Golf Ball Drop will happen prior to play at 11:30. A putting contest will be going on prior to play and special contests will happen during play. In addition, anyone can check out the silent auction items that will be available (Disney tickets, Wild Adventure Tickets, Auburn football, etc.)

The presenting sponsor this year is Herndon Shell Food Marts/Checkers. They have helped with the tournament in some way since the beginning. Funds raised through all tournament activities and sponsorship will be used to direcetly benefit local child victims of abuse through the CAC's multidisciplinary approach to abuse investigations.

In addition to the sponsorships available, the Helicopter Golf Ball Drop will take place at 11:30. By making a $100 donation, you receive a numbered ticket. A maximum of 250 numbered golf balls will be placed in a duffel bag and dropped out of a helicopter above a golf green. $10,000 awarded if your numbered ball goes in the hole; or closest ball gets $3,500 and second closest ball gets $1,500.

3rd Denim and Diamonds

The Bainbridge Decatur County YMCA is pleased to announce plans for their 3rd Annual Denim and Diamonds fundraising event to be held August 22, 2015 at the Charles H. Kirbo Center featuring famed Atlanta Braves baseball player, Dale Murphy. This year’s event will be centered around the baseball player’s faith and its culmination with his almost 20 year baseball career. The family friendly evening will also feature dinner and a silent auction in addition to a meet and greet reception with Murphy. Proceeds from the event will go to support the YMCA’s Annual Campaign.

The 3rd Annual Denim and Diamonds will kick off at 6pm with dinner and the opening of the silent auction followed by Dale Murphy delivering the keynote presentation. Following his address, the solarium will be open for a meet and greet and opportunity for autographed pictures and memorabilia. The silent auction will remain open until 10pm will feature vacations, sporting event packages as well as autographed sports items from many sports.

A limited number of tickets will go on sale July 1 and will be available at the YMCA Member Services desk or by contacting any YMCA Board Member. Ticket costs for the event are $50 per adult and $30 for youth under the age of 18. The evening is being hosted by Presenting Sponsor Georgia Power as well as Southwest Georgia Farrn Credit, Dollar Farm Products and Dollar Family Farms.

Empty Bowls Dothan will have Community Bowl-Making Days July 14 and August 4 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center, 909 South St. Andrews Street in Dothan. Space is limited and registration is required. Please reserve your spot by calling 334-699-2787. There is no cost to participate in the bowl-making process. The bowls will be sold Feb. 6, 2016, at an event to benefit the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank and the Cultural Arts Center. Make a bowl. Make a difference.
