Alfred Saliba Center for Families Engages Responsible Fathers

DOTHAN, Alabama -- In keeping with the national Responsible Fatherhood theme for the month of June, the Pathways to Responsible Fatherhood, Early Head Start, and HIPPY Programs of the Alfred Saliba Center for Families will host their 2nd Fathers & Community Engagement Day on Saturday, June 28, 2014. This year’s theme is “Dads & Kickball for Kids”. The Fathers and Community Engagement Day affords the organization and the community a chance to celebrate and empower fathers to become more fully present in the lives of their children. The FREE event will be held at the Alfred Saliba Center for Families located at 301 W. Lafayette Street, from 9am to 1pm, and will be comprised of fun activities for fathers and children, give-a-ways and prizes donated by local businesses, and refreshments. Fathers will have access to educators who will provide FREE parenting, relationship, employment, and money management tips.

Also, there will be opportunities available throughout the day to orient fathers and other community members to the programs and services offered through the Saliba Center and other community agencies in Houston County. Area community agencies and volunteers are encouraged to participate as well.

The Andalusia Area Humane Society is hosting a Bowling for the Animals Bowling Tournament on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Strikers Entertainment Bowling Alley.





Dothan Education Foundation Joins With Local Sorority Chapters To Host A Regional Sorority Rush Workshop

Dothan Education Foundation has joined with local sorority chapters to host a regional Sorority Rush Workshop for Wiregrass Junior and Senior High School girls. Speakers will be presenting different aspects of the sorority rush process in order to replace nervousness with poise and preparation. Presentations will include a summary of Rush week, basic financial information, a What to Wear Fashion Show, resume organization & recommendation planning. Diverse sorority chapters will be represented and will be available to answer questions that attendees may have. The Rush Workshop will be held in Rotary Hall of the Wiregrass Rehab Center at 6 P.M. on Tuesday, June 10th. The cost is $5 per student and parents are encouraged to attend with no additional charge.
