Eufaula Indian Summer Festival

The Eufaula Barbour County Chamber will host the 39th Annual Indian Summer on Saturday, October 14, 2017. The festival kicks off with a 5K Trail Trot. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race starting at 8:30 a.m. The registration fee is $20 in advance, $25 day of the race, and $15 to all military.

The Humane Society of Barbour County will once again host its annual Pet Parade. This year’s theme is the “Wild, Wild West.” Pet owners and their pets will come in costume and parade the festival grounds. The awards ceremony will take place around 9:30 a.m. with the parade immediately following. All proceeds will benefit the local Humane Society.

An addition to this year’s festival is the Alabama Bicentennial Balloon Release. The State of Alabama kicked off the Bicentennial season in March and will be promoting events for the next three years leading up to the celebration of 200 years of statehood on December 14, 2019. The Chamber encourages recognition to this important statewide celebration. Red and white balloons will be released at 10:00 a.m. and birthday cake will be served.

Eufaula is home to four locations on the Alabama State Birding Trail: Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge, Lakepoint State Park, Old Creek Town Park, and Yoholo Micco Walking Trail. Don McCullough will be performing four shows. Exotic species including Paris Hawk, Red Tail Hawk, Great Horned Owl and falcons will be on hand to perform. Also, being shown throughout the day will be some amazing reptiles.

The festival will have several shows held inside the Chamber. Included in the entertainment line-up are two magic shows, two juggling acts, and a critter show with all kind of creepy things. Other activities held this year will be two dog performances, a petting zoo, bouncy houses, face painting, a classic car show with over 30 automobiles, a “Touch a Truck” exhibit, arts and crafts, various vendors, food and music

The festival is free to attendees thanks to the generosity of many local businesses. Wristbands will be sold for entry to several of the kids’ activities for $10 each.
