Hank Kennedy from DHS class of '65 wants all that were members of the first football team and cheerleaders in 1965 to be apart of the celebration that will take place on September 26, 2014 commemorating the first game every played in Rip Hewes Stadium 50 years ago on September 26, 1964! They will be recognizing all the players and cheerleaders that were part of this initial game. Please let us know if you and your spouse will be attending this event. This will be great if we can get as many as possible to be a part of this celebration.

Join us Friday, September 26th for Oktoberfest on the Festival Fields from 4:30-9:30 pm. Fort Rucker's 12th Annual Oktoberfest features live German music by Sonnenschein Express, traditional German food including bratwurst and schnitzel, German beer, keg toss competition, Volkswagen Show & Shine and a good time to be had! At this family-friendly event there are also inflatables for the children, a pumpkin patch, craft activities and more! PorktoberQue

The 3rd annual Oktoberfest and barbecue competition, PorktoberQue, will again be held the last weekend of September at the Houston County Farm Center in Dothan. The event features BBQ teams competing for $7700.00 in prize money under KCBS (Kansas City Barbecue Society) sanctioning and also promotes a German-style Oktoberfest. There are two stages featuring both polka music and contemporary music, an indoor biergarten, a “man cave” with TV’s for watching your favorite football games, a cornhole tournament, free bounce houses for the kids to play on, shopping with vendors and many food-related activities.
