Enterprise Civic Center, Enterprise
Big Band Swing Era Music of 1930s & 40s
Be enchanted by a wonderful night of Dining and Dancing, with music provided by The Moonlighters of Dothan, Alabama. The Moonlighters’ roots came from the Wiregrass Civic Band, formed in 1974 by Dale Lunceford. Richard Shill, who played trumpet with the Harry James Band, formed The Moonlighters in 1976. Terrell Glover, who plays trumpet, is one of the two remaining founding members and is the band’s manager. The other living founding member is baritone saxophonist Gavin Whatley, an Auburn graduate who played in the prestigious Auburn Knights. The Moonlighters celebrate the classic big band sound of the Swing Era of the 1930s and 40s. The group of 20 musicians and 2 vocalists perform upbeat tempo and catchy tunes that keep audiences coming back to listen, imagine, and relive the big band era. The Moonlighters will play favorites such as "Satin Doll," "I Only Have Eyes for You," "Sentimental Journey," "Till," "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "What's New," and "I'll Be Seeing You." This event is a fund raiser to bring performing arts to students in city and county schools. Tickets purchased in advance are $60 for a couple and $35 for an individual.
