43rd Annual Kolomoki Festival
10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Kolomoki Mounds State Historic Park will host the 43rd Annual Kolomoki Festival on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Kolomoki Mounds State Park in Blakely, Georgia. The festival hours are 10a.m to 4p.m. This festival features Native American skills demonstrations such as flint knapping, hide tanning, basket making, weapons demonstrations, pottery making, tomahawk throwing and bow making. There will also be arts and craft booths, plenty of food, boat tours, blow-up inflatables, a reptile show, a corn hole tournament, free arts and crafts for kids, and the antique tractor parade. There will be live entertainment including many dancers and singers from all around the tri-state area. The festival is sponsored by the Friends of Kolomoki Mounds. Admission is a $5 parking fee per vehicle.
Spots are still available for craft, food vendors and antique tractors.

6th Annual Wiregrass Area Buddy Walk
Toyota of Dothan presents the 6th Annual Wiregrass Area Buddy Walk, Saturday, October 12th at Landmark Park. Registration begins at 8:30 and Opening Ceremonies will begin at 10:00.
The Buddy Walk celebrates National Down Syndrome Awareness Month. The NDSS established the Buddy Walk in 1955 and the Wiregrass Area had its first in 2008. It is a fun, wonderful, heart-warming event in which thou...sands of people from coast to coast and around the world participate each year.
You can make a difference in the lives of thousands of families. Your participation in the Wiregrass Area Buddy Walk helps the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. organization.
Scarecrows in the Park
Frank Jackson State Park in Opp, Alabama
Visit Frank Jackson State Park during October and November to enjoy the fall colored leaves, a calming lake view, and creative scarecrows. The scarecrows are placed throughout the park’s walking trails and are made by local businesses, churches, individuals, and organizations. Scarecrows in the Park is community effort and proudly organized by Frank Jackson Trail Masters. Guided golf cart tours are available. Group tours are welcomed.

Wounded Warrior Fall Hunt
Fort Rucker Outdoor Recreation
The annual Fort Rucker Wounded Warrior Fall Hunt is slated for October 5th thru 12th.
Proceeds from the hunt will be used to purchase new specialized recreational equipment to enhance the quality of life for our Wounded Warriors and local community.
The hunt also raises awareness of the handicap accessible recreational equipment available at Fort Rucker thru the Outdoor Recreation program. The fall hunt offers turkey, hog and deer hunting for those who register to be a part of the week long hunt. The week long hunt will kick off on October 5th, at 3:00 a.m. and end on October 12th at 10 a.m. when all participants will meet back at West Beach, Lake Tholocco for door prize give-a ways, lunch and announcement of winners and sponsor recognition. Cost to participate in the hunt is $25 with no cost to Wounded Warriors. If you would like to assist a Wounded Warrior during the hunt, please contact the Outdoor Recreation office at (334) 255-4305.
