Join local author Danielle Wallace at the Dothan-Houston County Library for fun, inspirational creative writing workshops. Teens will be able to express themselves using different genres of writing, ranging from poetry to fiction. These workshops are free, so grab your pen, notepad, and your imagination to make a difference in the world around you. If you know a teen that would love to attend, share this information with them.

Reunion Choir Workshop and Concert

6:30 p.m. each night and the concert will be on Dec 13th (Saturday) at 3:00 p.m.

Allen Temple Church of God in Christ, 106 Farmer Street, Dothan, Alabama
Past and Present Choir members who used to sing with Alabama 1st or 2nd Jurisdictional Choirs and any other interested persons are cordially invited to share in this musical experience. The purpose is just to fellowship in the nostalgia of choirs in ministry. The clinician will be Dr. Don Gardner (musical composer/teacher) and Evengelist Barbara Collins, both of Mobile, Alabama. Bring your choirs, groups, and musical families. Registration is $10 . Workshop is Thursday & Friday (Dec 11 & 12) 6:30 p.m. each night and the concert will be on Dec 13th (Saturday) at 3:00 p.m.

Serve Alabama to Host Free Non-Profit Capacity Building /AmeriCorps Funding Information Workshops in Dothan

Wallace Community College in Rane-Hall Wellness Auditorium
Non-profit and faith-based organization leaders and staff, along with the general
public are invited to attend free workshops hosted by Serve Alabama. The workshops will focus
on non-profit sustainability and an overview of the AmeriCorps application process. The workshop
will be held on December 2, 2014. The workshops will be held Wallace Community College in Rane-
Hall Wellness Auditorium at 1141 Wallace Drive Dothan, AL 36303.
The interactive grant workshop will provide participants with basic skills needed to prepare a professional
persuasive viable grant proposals written to benefit an organization. Participants will also have
the chance to learn more about AmeriCorps. The sessions will be conducted to share the requirements
for submitting an AmeriCorps grant and the benefits of this resource for the state of Alabama.

Citizen Law Enforcement Academy

October 9th

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce its next Citizen Law Enforcement Academy, which will begin on October 9, 2014. For citizens who want a truly eye opening experience about law enforcement, this is where it all starts. Participants will spend about three hours in a class room once a week for approximately 10 weeks. The Citizen Law Enforcement Academy is a great program for any citizen who wishes to learn more about the field of law enforcement and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. The class is FREE and will take place at the Sheriff’s Office Administration building located at 752 Triple G Road, DeFuniak Springs.
