The 4th annual Oktoberfest and barbecue competition, PorktoberQue, will again be held the last weekend of September at the Houston County Farm Center in Dothan. The event features BBQ teams competing for $7700.00 in prize money under KCBS (Kansas City Barbecue Society) sanctioning and also promotes a German-style Oktoberfest. There are two stages featuring both polka music and contemporary music, an indoor biergarten, a "man cave" with TV’s for watching your favorite football games, a cornhole tournament, free bounce houses for the kids to play on, shopping with vendors and many food-related activities. “FOOD & FANCY” TO BENEFIT THE WIREGRASS AREA UNITED WAY FOOD BANK
The Dothan Moonlighters, providing the sights and the sounds of the big band and swing era for more than 20 years, will host “Food & Fancy” to benefit the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank on Friday, May 29.
Relax and enjoy the music or dance to your heart’s delight 7-10 p.m. at Dothan’s Cultural Arts Center, 909 S. St. Andrews Street. Tickets are $15.
