Second Annual Mural City Art Walk

Date(s): 3/7/2015

Saturday, March 7th, 2015 from 10am to 4pm

Foster Street, Dothan, AL
The Murals of the Wiregrass board is proud to present the Second Annual Mural City Art Walk. This event will be hosted on Saturday, March 7th, 2015 in beautiful downtown Dothan. Attendees will be treated to a variety of artists set up along the 100 block of Foster Street from 10am to 4pm.

This family-friendly event will showcase the talents of all artistic mediums from local artists, as well as artists from all over the Southeast. All art will be available for purchase, and entertainment will be aplenty with performances by local theater groups, dance groups, musicians, and even a live mural painting.

We are still accepting applications from artists on our website www.muralcityartwalk.com and would like to invite all artists to participate. All artists will be invited to celebrate the day with a closing reception at the Loft on Foster, which will feature live entertainment, food and more.

Mural City Art Walk Chairman, Susan Herring, states, “The Mural City Art Walk is a ‘can’t miss’ event for Dothan. It is the perfect showcase of our local, talented artists and I can not wait to find some new art pieces for my home.” Ms. Herring encourages all of Dothan to come out and support this event again this year.

All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Murals of the Wiregrass, which proudly maintains all the murals throughout Dothan.

National Pancake Day

Date(s): 3/3/2015

March 3rd, 2015 from 7am-10pm

IHOP locations in Alabama
BIRMINGHAM- IHOP will again serve free pancakes to benefit Children’s of Alabama in celebration of National Pancake Day on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at participating restaurants across the state.
From 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. that day, IHOP customers can enjoy a free short stack of IHOP’s famous buttermilk pancakes and, in turn, will be asked to make a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) to celebrate this “Decade of Giving.” Since 2006, IHOP National Pancake Day has raised approximately $13 million to provide life-saving treatment, programs and medical equipment for pediatric patients across the country. One hundred percent of the funds donated at participating Alabama IHOP locations will be donated to Children’s of Alabama.
Miracle Balloons, which include IHOP coupons, will be sold for $1 and $5 each, personalized and displayed at participating IHOP restaurants during February, offering guests another way to show their support of CMNH and contribute to the National Pancake Day fundraising effort. Guests who purchase a $5 Miracle Balloon will receive a $5 discount coupon that can be used during their next dining visit.
Pancake Day is a tradition that dates back several centuries to when the English prepared for fasting during Lent. Strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products, hence the name Pancake Tuesday which falls on Shrove Tuesday on the Christian calendar.
"IHOP is thrilled to bring families and communities together in support of the efforts of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities on National Pancake Day," said Des Hague, IHOP's president. "We want to thank our guests who helped us raise nearly $3 million to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities last year, and we ask them to join us again to surpass our fundraising goal of $3.5 million for 2015.”
Participating IHOP restaurants in Alabama include:
· Athens (16211 Athens Limestone Blvd.)
· Birmingham (5243 Highway 280) and (7748 Crestwood Blvd.)
· Decatur (1428 Beltline Road SW)
· Dothan (3407 Ross Clark Circle)

· Homewood (221 State Farm Parkway)
· Hoover (2730 John Hawkins Parkway)
· Huntsville (3001 S. Memorial Parkway)
