Touch A Truck at Landmark Park!

Landmark Park on U.S. Highway 431 North in Dothan, Ala.
Calling all kids! On May 2 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Landmark Park will host the annual Touch A Truck, featuring dozens of trucks for kids and adults to touch, explore and learn about their uses.

Thanks to several business, many trucks will be featured at the event. Some of the equipment that will be present includes a bomb squad vehicle, university football truck, ice-cream truck, forklift, bobcat, TV and radio broadcast trucks and more. A "quiet hour" will take place from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. for kids who are afraid of loud noises.

Landmark Park is also hosting Touch A Truck birthday parties on the day of the event. For $250, you will receive 12 guest tickets that admit one child and one adult each, three reserved tables in the Stokes Activity Barn, custom invitations and envelopes, a construction themed birthday cake. Plates, napkins, forks, tablecloths, favor bags and one VIP parking space. Only a limited number of parties are available. Call 334-794-3452 for details.

Admission to Touch A Truck is $5 for kids, $7 for adults and free for park members and children 2 and under. This event is sponsored by Alabama Power, Holland Crane, WDHN and The Joy 94.3 FM.

Children's Festival in the Park

Panhandle Watermelon Festival

Panhandle Watermelon Festival has once again lined up a group of performers to ensure this year’s festival will continue to offer thousands a jam packed two day music and family experience like no other locally.

The 59th Panhandle Watermelon Festival proudly welcomes legendary country music acts Mark Wills, Exile and Daryle Singletary to grace the stage for the Friday night concert event.

“Holding to tradition, Panhandle Watermelon Festival consistently spotlights legendary music acts coupled with family oriented activities making this two day festival unlike any other offered in the area,” states Chairman Colby Peel, “Our goal remains to bring the highest quality entertainment to this community while ensuring this event is free to everyone who attends.”

Made possible in large part by presenting sponsors, McDonalds, Community South Credit Union, Tobacco Free Florida, Northwest Florida Community Hospital, GAC Contractors and JRA Architects, Inc., visitors can experience this year’s Friday night music acts while kids participate in one of the many kid centered activities located on the festival grounds including rock wall, race mania interactive rides, bounce house and slide sponsored by longtime supporter, Community South Credit Union and the traditional watermelon contests hosted by our own Northwest Florida Community Hospital all of which will be conveniently located at Pal’s Park.

Come hungry and feast on fare that goes hand in hand with Friday night Watermelon including hamburgers and hotdogs prepared by the Chipley Fire Department.

Saturday’s events commence early with the annual 5,000 meter Hot Trot Run at the Florida Panhandle Technical College. At the same time, spectators can head over to the Shrine Club for the traditional Pancake Breakfast.The family favorite Watermelon Parade is scheduled for 10am. Participants will organize at the Chipley High School Football Stadium and continue east on Hwy 90 through downtown to the delight of hundreds of eager faces.

Festivities will begin immediately following the parade at the Ag Center with gospel group The Thompsons kicking off another talented lineup of musicians. The time-honored introduction of queens and the watermelon contest and auction, hosted by Auctioneer David Corbin, round out the lunchtime activities. The Fine Arts Show, hosted by the Washington County Arts Council will be on display in the east wing of the Ag Center. This show will feature artwork from local artists as well as noted artists from the Northwest Florida region.

Member of the legendary Statler Brothers for 21 years, CMA (Country Music Association) Hall of Fame and GMA (Gospel Music Association) Hall of Fame member, Jimmy Fortune, will cap off Saturday’s musical lineup.

Numerous food and arts and crafts vendors will be scattered throughout the Ag Center grounds and visitors can drop by the Kiwanis table and pick up a complimentary slice of Watermelon (while supplies last).

Live Music, Mechanical Bull Riding & Live Professional Bull Riding April 23-­25, 2015

This fun-­filled, family friendly event and rock n. roll rodeo is coming to THE BEACH! This inaugural event features pro rider, Cody Harris, CMT’s ‘Dukes of Cattle’ and ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ reality TV star, among others in this sanctioned event. Festivities begin, Thursday April 23rd with a sit down dinner with “The Cowboys” at The Crab Trap restaurant at 7pm. Friday, April 24th features a Mechanical Bull Riding Contest starting at 5pm Admission is free. Waivers required of all participants! Gates will open at 5pm for the bull riding event and pyrotechnic show which starts at 8pm. After the bull riding, ticket holders 18+ get free admission to The Swamp for the after party and live entertainment.

Saturdays festivities begin at 3pm with vendors and a kids fun zone in the parking lot and meet & greet with the cowboys. A bikini bull riding contest starts on the beach at 3pm with over $1000 in cash & prizes.

Admission is free. Grab a bite to eat from one of the 3 great restaurants on the boardwalk and get your seat for the main event! Gates for the rodeo will open at 3pm and show kicks off at 8pm. ½ time show will feature an intense game of ‘Bull Poker’!

Rodeo-­ General Admission Advance Sales-­ $20, children 10 and under are free. On stage VIP seating-­ $75 per person with a complimentary bar during the rodeo and VIP seating at The Swamp after party.
