Join local author Danielle Wallace at the Dothan-Houston County Library for fun, inspirational creative writing workshops. Teens will be able to express themselves using different genres of writing, ranging from poetry to fiction. These workshops are free, so grab your pen, notepad, and your imagination to make a difference in the world around you. If you know a teen that would love to attend, share this information with them.

Reunion Choir Workshop and Concert

Past and Present Choir members who used to sing with Alabama 1st or 2nd Jurisdictional Choirs and any other interested persons are cordially invited to share in this musical experience. The purpose is just to fellowship in the nostalgia of choirs in ministry. The clinician will be Dr. Don Gardner (musical composer/teacher) and Evengelist Barbara Collins, both of Mobile, Alabama. Bring your choirs, groups, and musical families. Registration is $10 . Workshop is Thursday & Friday (Dec 11 & 12) 6:30 p.m. each night and the concert will be on Dec 13th (Saturday) at 3:00 p.m.

Hartford Baptist Church is hosting a HBC Holiday Marketplace – “ Shopping with a Mission”
Sunday Dec. 7th from 11:30 until 4:00.
A variety of vendors will be on hand to display and sell their products from arts and crafts to clothing, Thirty-One, Jamberry, Mary & Martha, Mary Kay and many more.
Vendor space is available for $20-$25. All proceeds from space rentals will go to help fund the HBC Mission Team to the Dominican Republic in July 2015.

City of Headland Holiday Open House

Headland will have a city-wide Holiday Open House to launch the holiday season on the Thursday before Thanksgiving, Nov 20, 3:00-8:00pm.
Merchants will stay open late with special sales and holiday treats for people to shop after normal business hours. More businesses will also have customer appreciation/open house activities.
Lighted luminaries will designate participating businesses during the event. Those participating include Polka Dots & Lace, The Old Ice House, Daylight Invites, Diann’s Florist & Gifts, The Gilded Lily, Quilted Creations, K-Time Sports and Apparel, Ashley Parr Photography & Courtly Couture, Peoples South Bank, Headland Insurance, HNB First Bank and WRMZ Radio. The City of Headland Municipal Complex and the Judicial Building will also have open house for the public to tour the newly renovated facilities.
The tree-lighting at the square will be at 6:00pm followed by Headland Elementary School’s Kindergarten’s Holiday Sing at the gazebo.
Santa will arrive in his red sleigh on Grove Street on the downtown square at 3:30pm to visit with children and then will move to Diann’s Florist at 4:30 until 5:30. Strolling carolers will also entertain with Christmas music in front of businesses during the evening.
Another Sundown Cinema at the Square is set for the following night, Friday, Nov. 21 at 6:00pm. “The Polar Express” will be the featured presentation. Popcorn, hot cocoa and drinks will be available. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for this holiday event. This free outdoor movie is sponsored by the City of Headland, Headland Area Chamber of Commerce and Renaissance Headland.
Headland’s Annual Christmas Parade will be Thursday, Dec. 11 at 6:00pm. The theme for this year’s parade is “A Caroling Christmas Parade” and the Parade Marshall is Carol Bedsole. Parade entry forms are available on line at www.headlandal.com. Entry fee is $10. Hearts for the Arts is the Cultural Arts Center 2014 membership drive. For as little as $25 participants can become a member of Hearts for the Arts and get a unique t-shirt.

and receive an envelope!
Step 2: Set a challenging goal. Ask yourself the question “How much
money can I raise?” “What would be a challenging goal for myself?”
Step 3: Get Sponsors. Ask friends, relatives, neighbors, and local
businesses to sponsor you.
Step 4: Collect Donations. Any and all donations in cash or check are
welcome. The checks should be made out to Salvation Army.
Step 5: Return the Sponsor Form Envelope along with ALL of the
donations to Dothan Martial Arts Academy by October 3, 2014.
