A journalist with a passion for politics, Troy Kinsey provides extensive coverage of the events that shape our lives as a reporter in the WTVY News 4 Tallahassee bureau. If a decision in the state capital has an impact on the Florida Panhandle, he's covering it.

Since becoming a member of the capital press corps in 2006, Troy has covered legislative battles over abortion, education reform, property taxes, and other less controversial, though equally important issues. He's reported on ethical scandals at the state's Public Service Commission and in the Capitol's halls of power, and he's followed numerous local and statewide campaigns. Troy has been honored for his work by the Association of Capitol Reporters and Editors, winning a 2008 'Cappie' for his look at the sophisticated techniques political parties use to contact prospective voters.

Before joining the WTVY News 4 team, Troy worked at the WCJB, the ABC affiliate in Gainesville. While in Gator Country, in addition to his general assignment duties, he reported on local political parties, candidates and races, as well as high-profile statewide and national political events. In 2005, he received a Florida Associated Press Broadcasters first-place award for a feature story explaining how shifting highway patterns impacted the economy across different sections of Gainesville.

Troy is a graduate of the University of Southern California's Annenberg School of Journalism and holds a master's degree in Applied American Politics & Policy from Florida State University. He serves as an adjunct professor in FSU's Department of Political Science, teaching students about the fundamentals of political communication. When he's not reporting on politics, he's reading up on the process, from books to newspapers to magazines. He also enjoys showing off his less-than-stellar golf swing, traveling around Florida, and exploring Tallahassee and its rich history as the state's capital city.
