Brandon Rook's Bio
Brandon joined the WTVY Channel News 4 team in November 2013.
Before coming to Dothan, Brandon attended the Meek School of Journalism at University of Mississippi for graduate school. In addition to pursuing a master’s degree, Brandon also studied Mass Communications at the distinguished Alcorn State University in Mississippi. During his senior year he served as the university’s 85th Student Government Association President.
For the past five years Brandon has gained lots of experience in Broadcast Journalism. He has had previous internships with Clear Channel Philadelphia, WCAU (Philadelphia, Pa) WJTV (Jackson, MS) and CBS Newspath in New York City.
Over the past two years Brandon has produced, reported and anchored for both ASU TV-13 at Alcorn State University and Newswatch99 at Ole Miss. In addition to working for his school television stations, Brandon gained lots of experience working as a Production assistant for ESPN, ESPNU, SWAC TV and Magilla Entertainment. He is also a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
One of his most exciting experiences was being involved with the filming of television show “Burgerland” featured on the Travel Channel. Traveling across Mississippi and Tennessee tasting the best burgers around was a fulfilling experience.
Brandon is a diehard Philadelphia sports fan; he loves the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers and Flyers. In his spare time he likes to read, eat at great restaurants, watch movies and workout.
He is a native of Philadelphia, Pa who’s happy to call the Wiregrass his home.
