Born and raised in the city of Chicago, Demetria is happy to be in the South where the people are friendly, the weather is warm, and sweet tea is abundant!
Prior to joining News 4, she interned at both WEIU in Charleston, IL and WFLD-32 in Chicago. Her internship at WFLD-32 led to a production assistant job on ‘Good Day Chicago’.
Demetria graduated from Florida A&M University and majored in Business Administration. Go Rattlers! After working in Corporate America for several years, she realized it wasn’t for her. Demetria pursued her passion for journalism and later earned her Masters degree in Media Communications from Governors State University.
She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
When Demetria’s not working, she enjoys trying and most of the time failing at cooking ANYTHING, reading, and meeting new people. She is passionate about working with at-risk youth and has an anti-violence documentary currently in post-production.
