Future Masters: 10-Under Age Group

(DOTHAN) - The 10-Under Age Group got started today out at the Dothan Country Club.

They only play 9-holes for their opening round. A handful of local standouts are in the youngest age group.

Dothan-native Brantley Scott is currently tied for 14th after shooting a 7-over 42 on the day.

Mason Crowder is tied with Scott at 14th with a 7-over 42.

Dothan's Mac Edge is in tied at 30th with a 13-over, 48 and Enterprise's Gibson Charlton is 34th at 15-over after his opening round.

The great grandson of the the man who started the Future Masters is competing this year.

Luke Thornton, the grandson of Doctor Press Thronton, shot a 22-over par 57 on the day. Despite his scorecard Thornton was all smiles after his round.

When asked how it felt to be playing in the tournament his great grandfather started he said, "It's great, it's fantastic, I love it...I love them, my family."

When he was done with his interview Thornton said he needed a nap.

He'll be able to get plenty of rest before tomorrow's 2nd round.
