DOTHAN, AL -- One of Dothan's traditional participants at the Future Masters has withdrawn from the tournament after just six holes. Corey Smith suffered a shoulder injury early in his first round on Thursday, forcing him to leave the field.
Smith underwent rotator cuff surgery recently, and may have re-injured his shoulder. He was off to a tough start, shooting +11 over par through his first six holes.
Smith opened with a double bogey on the par 5, 10th hole. He followed with a triple bogey at the par 3, 11th hole. After a par the 12th hole, Smith suffered a quadruple bogey on the par 3, 13th hole.
He followed with bogeys at the 14th and 15th holes before withdrawing. Fellow Dothan golfers William Speigner and Beau Scott, as well as Headland's Calum Masters were also on the course on Thursday afternoon.
