Most of Patricia Lane's visitors come in for a night of bowling and fun. But to Jackson Harris they mean so much more. Harris has grown up at these lanes working towards a lifelong goal.
Harris has accepted a scholarship to bowl for Spring Hill College, meaning that his strikes allow him to not spare a dime for school.
"I can't really wrap my mind around it. I've accomplished a dream that I've had I just hope I go out there and do the best that I can and do what needs to be done and just get better as I go along and progress my career as a bowler" Harris says
Harris comes from a long line of bowlers. His parents and sister all bowl. But his dad and his uncle taught him everything he knows.
" I just always grew up around bowling. My dad's been bowling ever since i can remember.so i just basically grew up in a bowling center, bowling" explains Harris
Harris' father Eddie is proud to see his son's growth from bumpers to a bowling scholarship.
"Its awesome, it's a great accomplishment for him, he's worked really hard at it and it's something he grew up around his whole life and he just grew to love it. Bowling is what he fell in love with and its great that he gets to do it on a collegiate level." says his father.
Ben Hoefs, Harris' future college coach says that Jackson's love and determinations make him stand out from his peers.
"I was very interested in his mechanics as well as his demeanor as he's bowling."
Even having his family and friends attend his signing ceremony has Harris in awe of his accomplishments.
" It's nice. I can't really wrap my mind around it. I just feel special and it's something I'll never forget. "
Harris hopes to use his college career as a springboard for the Professional Bowling Association tour.
