DOTHAN, AL -- Troy Football signee Emanuel Thompson Jr. led five Barbour County players in double figures with 17 points, pacing the Jaguars past Excel 77-45 in a 3A Boys South Regional Semifinal on Thursday. With the win, Barbour County advanced to face Daleville in the 3A Regional Final on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Jaguars grabbed control of the game from the opening tip, outscoring Excel 21-7 in the first quarter. Barbour County led 41-17 at halftime and never looked back en route to the 32 point win.
Stephon Walton and Christian Patterson scored 15 points each, Brion Patrick had 12 and James Grubbs chipped in 10 points for the Jaguars (20-11).
Quamie Penn led Excel with 12 points.
Daleville - 48 Straughn - 31
Robert McGirt scored 19 points, leading Daleville past Straughn 48-31. The Warhawks jumped on the Tigers 31-16 by halftime, then cruised to the 17-point win.
With the win, Daleville advanced to face the winner of Barbour County and Excel in the 3A Boys Regional Final on Saturday at 2 p.m. Straughn ends the year with a 21-5 record.
Aaron Cope added 11 points for Daleville (22-8). The Warhawks used a huge advantage on the boards to top the Tigers, outrebounding Straughn 38-14.
J.D. Driver led the Tigers with 10 points.
