The boys of summer are back in action, and the Wiregrass Cardinals prepare for another season of AAU baseball.
"Probably one of the more talented teams that we've had in our organization," coach Bubba Frichter said. "We're looking to make a real good run at the national tournament.
Coach Frichter says talent alone won't get them a championship.
"It's very important to have good team chemistry," he said. You can take nine superstars and put them on the field and you can take nine average players that are on the same page and understand each other and win."
Members of the team say chemistry won't be a problem.
"As soon as school ball's over, we all start texting each other and talking to each other on facebook and we just can't wait to get out here and start beating people around," first baseman Cameron Choquette said.
"Practicing real well and playing together, blood, sweat and tears together. We're going to have great chemistry and I think we're going to do well as a team," pitcher Connor Metcalf said.
The Cards have a rich history of winning and producing star players at the next level...a tradition these boys are proud of.
"I've played with Clay Holmes who went with the Pittsburgh Pirates, I've played with Craig Shirley who went to Auburn and they're great ballplayers and that's all you can ask for is to play with great players," Metcalf said.
"Playing with them I've learned to expect to win playing every time. We refuse to lose," Choquette said.
There's still a few weeks before the summer season starts. When that time comes, Frichter says they'll be ready to march toward another AAU Championship.
