The Wiregrass Cardinals 19U team went six innings without picking up a single hit. Birmingham's pitcher was lights out, throwing a no-hitter. The game still ended in a Cardinals victory.
In the 5th inning, a routine ground ball to second ended badly for Birmingham. A poor throw to first got the Cardinals runner to second. Two sacrifice plays brought the runner home and the Cards took a 1-0 lead.
They would go on to win with that score and without getting a hit.
The Red team battled the Green Wave in the next game, one that saw loads of offense in the first two innings.
The Green Wave put up two runs in the top of the first, but the Cardinals bounced right back and put up two of their own to tie it up in the bottom of the inning.
In the second, the Wave sent three more across the plate to take a 5-2 lead. The Cardinals once again responded in the bottom of the inning with four runs, and the score was 6-5 Cardinals after two.
This game, much like yesterday's, ended in a tie, though, as the Wave pushed across one more to make the score 6-6.
