The Wiregrass Cardinals Red Team is on the verge of the quarterfinals at the AAU Underclassmen World Series. The Cardinals won two more games on Thursday, to remain perfect in Fort Myers.
The Red Team beat the Louisiana Warriors 11-1, pounding out 18 hits. The Cardinals followed that up with a 9-2 win over the Boston Rams.
The Cardinals will face a team from Texas at 8 a.m. on Friday, and with a win, Sammy Frichter's team will advance to the quarterfinals of the Diamond Championship Bracket.
After Friday's early games, the field will be re-seeded, with the top eight teams entering a single elimination bracket. The quarterfinals will be played on Friday, with the semifinals set for Saturday and the championship game to be played on Sunday.
