(TROY)-- The final few red, white and blue flags were being hung and the infield prepped to host the Dixie Softball 10U World Series this weekend.
Troy's director of leisure services, Dan Smith, is excited about the inaugural Dixie Angles X-Play softball tournament.
"We've hosted state championships and world series' before, but we've never hosted a girls softball world series before," said Smith.
The team from Eufaula, won their first ever state championship a little more than a week ago. Geneva is set to to represent the state of Alabama.
"They have an excellent team," said Smith.
"They're just well-rounded. Great coach. Talented players. They'll be very very competitive in this world series. We hope people from Geneva and the Wiregrass will come, be able to pull for the Alabama team," said Smith.
Geneva will square off against Tennessee in their opening round game on Field 8 at 10 a.m.
Games will run through the weekend and into next week.
A world series champion will be crowned next Wednesday, August 1st.
