(TROY)-- It was a quiet Friday for Larry Blakeney and the football offices at Troy University.
The college football land is collectively counting down the days until kickoff.
In 3 days, roughly 105 Trojans will report for camp. In 6 days the Trojans hit the field. Coach Blakeney says new NCAA rules will only allow two 2-A-Days this year.
Before he worries about who's playing what position or what opponent Troy's playing, Coach Blakeney has his agenda set on two things.
"The number one thing is get them all here safe and sound," said Blakeney.
"Number two is get all of our paper work that we have to fill out every year for NCAA purposes, eligibility, amateur-status, all kinds of stuff and make sure they all have their physicals and uh-all the things that we have to do from a...that standpoint to put them on the field," he said.
When asked about the resignation of Troy Athletic Director Steve Dennis, Blakeney didn't disclose much details, alluding to the fact he hadn't been around to hear much.
"I certainly wish Coach Dennis the very best. I've known him as both a coach and athletic director. I love him. I don't think he'll have any trouble finding work elsewhere and he'll have numerous people here who will recommend him," he said.
Dennis announced his resignation earlier this week, not citing a specific reason.
Dennis' resignation will become effective September 30th, the day after Troy plays South Alabama on the road.
The Trojans open the season on the road against UAB on September, 1st at 12:00 P.M.
