More than 200 players will hit the course over the next three days to compete for the overall championship at the Future Masters. That includes a handful of players from the Wiregrass.

Providence Christian star Ryan Benton will play his final Future Masters this week. Benton finished fifth last year, and he hopes to place even higher this time around.

"I think last year took a lot of pressure off, getting that top five finish, playing pretty well," Benton said. This year, I don't really feel any pressure. I'm just going to play my game and have a lot of fun."

Benton plays the Dothan Country Club on a frequent basis. Despite his familiarity with his hometown course, Benton expects plenty of challenges this week, and not just from his competitors.

"It can definitely surprise you, because you see pins out here at this tournament that you never see everyday, so it's new to me as well as everybody else," Benton said. "The greens are rolling pretty fast, and they're only going to get faster. The rough is going to get thicker."

Benton has been a perennial contender at the Future Masters, but he's never won an age group. This is his last chance, and hopes to go out with a bang.

"I've been thinking about it a lot," Benton said. "But, the main thing I want to do, is go out there and have a lot of fun, and enjoy every minute of it. Just try to shoot as low as I can, and we'll see what happens on Saturday."

Benton will hit the course at 1:48 p.m. on Thursday to begin his first round. He'll begin on the 10th hole.
