He's one of the best junior golfers in the country, the equivalent of a five-star recruit in football or basketball circles. And, Robby Shelton's services are still up for grabs.
The Mobile native just won the Future Masters Overall Championship at the Dothan Country Club. Every program in the country is gunning for the St. Paul's star, but Shelton has narrowed his list to just three schools; Alabama, Auburn and Georgia Tech.
Shelton may know which way he's leaning, but he's not tipping his hand just yet.
"Not really," Shelton said immediately following his Future Masters win. "They're my friends, and it just depends on what I decide. It's coming up. They're good players, and they're going to have great college careers."
If Shelton chooses Auburn, he would play with the two friends he alluded to, Ryan Benton and Victor Wiggins. Wiggins finished second, and Benton fifth at the Future Masters.
If Shelton chooses Alabama, he would head to a school that just finished second in the nation. Georgia Tech is also a traditional power, that features last year's Future Masters champion, Michael Hines.
