With high school baseball in the books for another year, Post 12 is preparing to start it's season this coming weekend. The "Dozen" will travel to Tuscaloosa for the season-opening Memorial Tournament.
Post 12 features another star-studded roster this year, led by Enterprise pitcher Levi Tate, Charles Henderson's Jalin Lawson and a trio of players from Pike Liberal Arts' state championship team.
The roster features 26 players, spanning 16 high schools across three states. Head Coach Larry Tubbs believes he's put together a group that can contend for a state championship by the end of the year.
"This is probably the most athletic club we've ever had," Tubbs said. "We've got athletes top to bottom, we've got speed. I think we're going to swing it well. Our pitching is still a question mark, but just being around these athletes every day is exciting itself."
Post 12 will open the season against the Mississippi All Stars on Saturday, followed by a game with Centerville Post 128 and two games against rival Tuscaloosa Post 34. The "Dozen's" first home game will be on June 7th at the Circle City Classic.
