It's good to be Dothan Post 12. The Dozen came into Friday's action in the newly named "David Prince Invitational" off the heels of a big 20-0 win over Wiregrass Sports Academy.
That Mercy Rule victory would carry on to their first game of the day against Opp. Post 12 gave up one run in the top of the 1st inning, and from there they pitched a shutout en route to a 9-1 victory. They got the ninth run in the bottom of the sixth, so they won by Mercy Rule for the second game in a row.
In the first two games of this tournament, they've outscored opponents 29-1.
The second game was much closer. They battled Columbiana Post 131, a team that jumped out to an early 2-1 lead in the first inning. The Dozen kept their cool and chipped away at the scoreboard, using small ball to eventually build the lead to 6-2. Columbiana got two more across the plate, but Post 12 held on to win 6-4.
They continue their march toward a hopeful tournament championship tomorrow.
