The Pike Liberal Arts Baseball Team has captured the AISA Class AAA State Championship. The Patriots beat Tuscaloosa Academy 15-10 in the third and deciding game at Paterson Field on Thursday.
The Knights built a 10-1 lead, and appeared poised to roll to the title. But, the Patriots rallied with 14 runs in the fifth inning to surge ahead, and eventually claim the title.
Pike Liberal Arts won the first game of the series 18-1 on Wednesday, before Tuscaloosa Academy rallied for a 5-4 win in the second game, forcing Thursday's winner-take-all showdown in Montgomery.
