After months of preparation, Northview High School is finally seeing their plans become a reality. Today marks the official ground breaking for the Cougar's new athletic facility.
With hard hats on and gold shovels in hand, coaches and players from each sport did the honors. The over $1,000,000 dollar facility is replacing the smaller, outdated weightroom. Athletic director and head football coach LaBrian Stewart says the current facility is about the size of a classroom and isn't even large enough to house the entire football team.
The facility will have new weight machines, cardio machines, three locker rooms, coaches offices and more. With all that comes a new Cougar mindset. Students and coaches are excited for the facility and say in order to compete with other 6A schools in the state and around the country, the weightroom is where it all begins.
The facility is for every student athlete, both male and female. The project is set to be completed in 250 days from today.
