We're less than two weeks away from the induction ceremony for this year's class to the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame. Ten of the biggest names in local sports history will be enshrined in the hall on Saturday, July 14th.
This year's ceremony will take place at the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center. Among those being inducted is Joe Pate, the Ashford native who went on to a coaching career of note at N.C. State.
Pate graduated from Alabama, before coaching stints in the high school ranks, plus UT-Chattanooga, Arkansas and twice with the Wolfpack. He still works for N.C. State today in football administration.
Tickets for this year's ceremony are $50 each. For more information, call 699-2172.
