Jimbo Payne has lived a life of athletic excellence. Payne played on two national championship teams at Troy, before going on to a successful coaching career in the high school ranks.
After winning two titles with the Trojans, Payne took assistant coaching jobs at Charles Henderson and Eufaula. He returned to his Alma Mater, G.W. Long in 1993, coaching several sports, including football, until 2007.
Now, Payne is being honored for his outstanding achievement. Payne is one of 10 inductees to the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame.
He'll be enshrined with his classmates on Saturday, July 14th at the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center. For ticket information, call 699-2172.
