The Wallace Softball Team has added one of the area's top offensive players. Emmanuel Christian star Alexis Johnson-Clark signed with the Lady Govs on Monday.
Johnson-Clark hit .633 as a senior, leading the Lady Warriors to the Panhandle Christian Conference Championship. She was also the team's leading power source, hitting 11 home runs, driving in 50 runs and posting a .713 on base percentage.
Now, she's ready for a new challenge at the next level of softball, something she's dreamed of all of her life.
"It was very accomplishing, because that's what I've been since I was 12-13 years old," Johnson-Clark said. "It was my dream to become an athlete for the college."
Wallace Head Coach Eddie Munn is excited to add such a versatile player to next year's team.
"Alexis is one of those kids who's kind of flown under the radar," Munn said. "She's got great power with her bat. She's a versatile player. You can put her just about any place, and she's one of those kids who's very coachable."
Johnson-Clark is one of 15 new players being added to the Lady Govs roster for next season. Wallace is trying to rebound after struggling through a 6-24 season, including just two wins in conference play.
