The Dothan National Angels Softball Team is heading to the State Tournament. The Angels will compete for a state title in Eufaula, beginning on Saturday morning.
Dothan National finished as the runners-up at the Sub-District and District Tournaments, earning the right to compete for a championship. The winner of the state tournament will advance to the world series, but the Angels aren't thinking about that.
They're simply happy to be at state, with a shot to win a title.
"We're very excited," Dothan National Head Coach Kendall Glover said. "Our team and girls have worked hard, and we've stressed teamwork."
The Angels received some city funding to make the trip, but they need more financial help. If you would like to support the team, the Angels are holding a fundraiser at the Big Fun complex on 231 North in Dothan on Wednesday night.
Admission is $8, with half of the proceeds going to the Angels for their trip to Eufaula.
