Dothan Eagle Super 12 Honors Baseball and Softball Players

Last week Dothan Eagle Super 12 honored players on the pitch from around the Wiregrass.

Tonight the Super 12 banquet was held to honor players who pitch...bat, field and everything else required in baseball and softball.

Dothan stand-out pitcher Kasey Cooper was honored as Super 12 player of the year for the second year in a row.

Cooper is believed to be the first player in AHSAA history to hit better than .590 (minimum of 100 at-bats) with 19 or more homers and 30 or more stolen bases.

She finished with a .599 batting average, .660 on-base percentage, 19 homers, 58 runs batted in (as lead-off hitter), 72 runs, 32 doubles (fourth most in AHSAA history), 6 triples, 34 steals, 30 walks and only 8 strikeouts.

As a pitcher, she was 28-11 with a 0.99 ERA, a Class 6A high 344 strikeouts and 87 walks in 233 1/3 innings. She pitched five no-hitters and 16 shutouts.

Lake Genard was honored as the Super 12 player of the year in baseball.

Genard finished with a 9-1 record and a 1.14 earned run average. In 67 innings, he struck out 92, walked 31 and allowed only 38 hits and 11 earned runs.

He pitched one no-hitter and was dominant in the postseason. In three playoff appearances covering 24 innings, he allowed only one run and seven hits, while striking out 34.

Behind his efforts, Wicksburg finished 22-12 and reached the Class 2A state quarterfinals. Genard will attend Enterprise State next season.
