Soccer players from around the Wiregrass were honored at the Super 12 award banquet. Enterprise head coach Ed Howard earned coach of the year while his goalkeeper, John Evans, earned player of the year honors.
Carroll standout Sarah Phillips was honored as the girls player of the year. Coach Lindsey Fain of Providence Christian earned coach of the year.
Evans has played for the Wildcats varsity soccer team since 8th grade. The senior goalkeeper made 61 saves and had nine shutouts for the Wildcats, which finished 17-3-1 and made it to the semifinals of the Class 6A state playoffs. He organized the team defensively from his position.
Phillips led the Eagles with 40 goals despite playing part-time
as a goalkeeper. In the goal, she faced 208 shots and made
182 saves.
She was scored on 20 times. Helped the Eagles to
the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs. For her career,
the junior has scored 186 goals.
