Auburn Legend Merrill Shirley Heading to WSHOF

Merrill Shirley is well known to Auburn football fans. Shirley followed up a standout career at Elba, with four exemplary seasons on the Plains.

Shirley was a standout defensive back for the Tigers, before going to to a career practicing law. Now, Shirley is being recognized for his excellence on the field, earning a spot in the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame.

This year's class will be enshrined on Saturday, July 14th at the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 each. For more information, call 699-2172.

To learn more about the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame Golf Tournament on Friday, July 13th, call 797-1518. This year's tournament will be played at Dothan National.
