Troy (20-22, 7-10) is coming off a pair of disappointing, midweek losses to in-state rivals. The Trojans fell to Samford, 6-2, on Tuesday before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Jacksonville State in 10 innings on Wednesday.
UT Arlington (18-23, 9-9) is on the upswing and winners of two straight, taking Sunday’s contest from No. 3 UL Lafayette and dropping Oklahoma on Tuesday. The Mavericks, currently fifth, sit 1 12 games above Troy in the Sun Belt Conference standings. The Trojans could jump as high as fourth over the weekend while UTA could reach third.
David Hall and Garrett Pitts continue to pace the Trojans offence. Hall is batting .347 on the season with a team-high eight home runs including a .444 mark in conference play. Pitts, batting .337, has been consistent all season leading the team with seven multi-RBI games and is second behind Hall with 15 multi-hit games.
Tanner Hicks and Shane McCain kick of the series on the mound with Hicks (2-6, 4.55) likely taking the ball in game one and McCain (3-3, 2.61) following in game two. McCain heads the league with 75 strikeouts and 69.0 innings pitched as well as the second-lowest ERA.
UT Arlington will send RHP Brad Vochon (2-5, 5.37) to the mound on Friday with RHP Zach Thompson (2-3, 4.75) manning the bump on Saturday and RHP Daniel Milliman (4-0, 2.41) pitching game three.

The meeting will be the first between the schools.
