NEW ORLEANS – Troy senior catcher Hannah Renn was named as an At-Large selection to the 2013 Preseason Sun-Belt All-Conference team on Monday, which was voted on by the league’s coaches.

In her first season at Troy, Renn started 47 games and hit .286, primarily out of the leadoff spot. The Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. native finished tied for second on last year’s team with seven home runs while adding eight doubles and two triples.

A second team All-Sun Belt selection a year ago, Renn finished second on the team with a .521 slugging percentage and with 25 walks. On the base paths, she recorded 12 stolen bases in 13 attempts, the second most of any catcher in the league in 2012.

Troy finished fourth in the league’s preseason poll, behind defending Sun Belt regular season champion Louisiana-Lafayette, defending Sun Belt tournament champion South Alabama and FIU.

Renn and the rest of the Trojans open the 2013 season at Bulldog Kickoff Classic in Starkville, Miss. on Friday, February 8, against Georgia State with first pitch set for 10:00 a.m. The following weekend, the Trojans host the Troy Subway Invitational starting on Friday, February 15.
