Newcomers mixing in with veterans for the first time in Auburn's quarterback race Sunday

AUBURN, Alabama -- Back in one corner, offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee shadowed Nick Marshall, offering tips on the quarterback's dropback, showing him how to get his shoulders square.

Ten yards away, Gus Malzahn shadowed Jeremy Johnson, leaning in to say something after a few throws.

The first two practices of Auburn's fall camp have clearly been aimed at getting the newcomers' up to speed, from assistants offering the youngsters extra instruction warmups to the practice format, which has featured an extra session at the end of each devoted to the newcomers as veterans hit the cold tub or head to dinner.
