AUBURN, Ala. — After yesterday's off day, Gus Malzahn and the Auburn Tigers got back to work today. He says he could tell some of them weren't into it when warming up, so he challeneged them. And by the end of practice, he was happy with their attitudes and determination. He says it was a "good practice".

That was just their first practice. They took to the field again in the afternoon for their final two-a-day session of the fall. The quarterback race continued as Malzahn gets closer to choosing a starter.

A good day at practice and a good day for wide receiver Dimitri Reese, Safety Blake Poole and runningback Chandler Shakespeare. Today, Malzahn announced that he awarded scholarships to the three walk-ons yesterday.

He says the three are character guys who prepresent the program well both on and off the field. Malzahn can relate: he was a former walk-on when he played ball.
