AUBURN, Alabama -- Auburn is not expected to receive much in the way of preseason accolades this summer.
After all, there's plenty of hesitation to do so following the Tigers' 3-9 season. They're also adjusting to life under first-year coach Gus Malzahn, and the unknowns attached to his arrival are reflected in the latest preseason magazines.
On Thursday, Athlon released its preseason All-SEC teams and included only five Auburn players to the four-team list. The total ties Arkansas for the third-lowest total in the SEC.
Auburn is the only SEC team to not be represented by an offensive or defensive player on the top two teams, although kicker Cody Parkey and punter Steven Clark each earned second-team nods. Running back Tre Mason appears on the third team and defensive end Dee Ford and safety Demetruce McNeal are listed on the fourth team.
