AUBURN, Alabama -- The arrival of Bruce Pearl has jump-started ticket sales at Auburn in the 24 hours since his hiring.

Auburn has received more than 500 ticket orders since Pearl was announced as the head coach of the Auburn men's basketball team shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday, a school spokesman said Wednesday afternoon.

The Auburn athletics department has received 361 deposits for public tickets and 150 donations for priority seating through the Tiger Unlimited Foundation.

"This has a chance to be an amazing homecourt advantage," Pearl said during his introductory press conference at Auburn Arena on Tuesday.

More than 1,000 fans showed up to welcome Pearl to the arena, which opened in 2010. Attendance hit a six-year low in Tony Barbee's final season as the Tigers' coach. Attendance fell nearly 7 percent to 5,823 fans per game, ranking second-to-last in the SEC in 2013-14, and the school failed to record a sellout inside the 9,121-seat arena.

Pearl purchased more than $2,000 worth of pizza to feed the student section at his introductory press conference Tuesday. The newly-hired coach wore an orange T-shirt directed at the student section, "The Jungle" during his tour of the arena.

Pearl also yelled "Welcome to the Jungle" during his opening remarks.
