AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Cameron Artis-Payne and Corey Grant delivered a message in No. 5 Auburn's opener that people worried about the running game can relax a little bit.

The Tigers racked up 302 rushing yards and gobbled up yards in bunches against Arkansas in the second half of their first game without Heisman Trophy finalist Tre Mason. Artis-Payne ran for 177 yards, Corey Grant gained 87 and both scored touchdowns. Coach Gus Malzahn calls them "Tailback 1 and 1A."

Artis-Payne says he'd read reports that Auburn's running game might drop off after leading the nation last season. He said after the game, "We made it through and we're going to be all right."

The Tigers' production came with dual-threat quarterback Nick Marshall sitting out the first half.

Auburn hosts San Jose State Saturday.
