AUBURN, Alabama -- Zeke Pike is on the roster, though it may be only temporary, and wide receiver Melvin Ray is on the field. Those are some of the early observations from the first day of fall practice at Auburn on Wednesday.

Pike is the freshman quarterback who was sent home over the summer after an arrest for public intoxication. Coach Gene Chizik will likely address Pike's status after practice Ray is former Alabama signee who played professional baseball before showing up at Auburn.
