Crimson Tide sophomore O.J. Howard is expected to take on a larger role this season. As a freshman, Howard caught 14 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns.
Auburn senior C.J.Uzomah has started for the Tigers since 2012. Last season, Uzomah caught 11 passes for 154 yards and three touchdowns.
No player from Auburn or Alabama has ever won the award. There are seven SEC tight ends on the list.
